A week and a day ago, I got a replacement for my old PowerShot A510, which my mother destroyed. I decided to settle on the PowerShot A710 IS, the first Canon A-series camera to feature an optically stabilized lens. It also features a 7.1 megapixel sensor and an amazing 6x optical zoom, which I think would be considered ultrazoom for a compact camera like this.

Today my mother destroyed my—er, her—digital camera, which she gave me for my birthday last year, for trivial reasons, so now I need to purchase a new camera. I’m not sure what to buy at this point; I need a portable camera, but I also want a lot of function, which is what my Canon PowerShot A510 did well. I was in an H-E-B store today, taking a picture of their malfunctional checkout lane computer, when a manager told me that I wasn’t allowed to take pictures in the store. I told her I was sorry and put my camera away. It’s curious that I’m not allowed to take pictures in the store, though; what could they be hiding?
If you live in Texas, take your camera into an H-E-B and take pictures; see if you can get thrown out.

I convinced my mother to get me a digital camera of my own so I could carry it around and take cool pictures. I got a Canon PowerShot A510 for about $170. It’s supposed to be the best entry-level camera on the market today, as it’s loaded with features and takes great photos. I took a few photos to test it out, and, even in this incredibly low-light house, it did a great job. I’m happy.
My photo gallery should see some more population now.
